A fifth-year student in the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University, 23-year-old Shrouq Kassab is energetic and hardworking and hopes to become a surgeon one day.

“I lost my mother and father and my whole family, and I fully support myself on my own. I am a strong Palestinian woman,” says Khadija Fares. “However, I am nothing like these Palestinian women who struggle daily. They are persistent and strong.”
